Participations by edition

1998: SC Corinthians P (invited [*])
      Cruzeiro EC (invited [*])
      CR Flamengo (invited [*])
      Grmio FBPA (invited [*])
      SE Palmeiras (invited [*])
      So Paulo FC (invited [*])
CR Vasco da Gama (invited [*])

[*] All participants of Copa Mercosul were invited, with basis on financial criteria.

Todos os participantes da Copa Mercosul foram convidados com base em critrios financeiros

1999: SC Corinthians P (invited [*])
      Cruzeiro EC (invited)
      CR Flamengo (invited)
      Grmio FBPA (invited)
      SE Palmeiras (invited)
      So Paulo FC (invited)
      CR Vasco da Gama (invited)

[*] As the worst placed Brazilian team, Corinthians would be "relegated" and replaced by
the 1998 Brazilian champion. However, as 1999 Brazilian champion was Corinthians itself,
this "relegation" didn't happened.

2000: C Atltico Mineiro (runner-up of Campeonato Brasileiro 1999) [*]
      SC Corinthians P (invited)
      Cruzeiro EC (invited)
      CR Flamengo (invited)
      SE Palmeiras (invited)
      So Paulo FC (invited)
      CR Vasco da Gama (invited)

[*] Grmio apparently was "relegated" due to be the worst placed Brazilian team. Atltico
Mineiro was qualified to replaced Grmio apparently due to the fact that Corinthians, the
1999 Brazilian champion, was already among the participants in Copa Mercosul 2000.

O Grmio aparentemente foi "rebaixado" por ser o time brasileiro de pior classificao
no torneio. O Atltico Mineiro se classificou para a vaga do Grmio aparentemente em
razo de o Corinthians, campeo brasileiro de 1999, j estar entre os participantes da
Copa Mercosul 2000.

2001: Cruzeiro EC (3rd place of Campeonato Brasileiro 2000)
Grmio FBPA (4th place of Campeonato Brasileiro 2000)
      SC Corinthians P (invited)
      CR Flamengo (invited)
      SE Palmeiras (invited)
      So Paulo FC (invited)
      CR Vasco da Gama (invited)
