Até 1922 a Seleção Brasileira não tinha um técnico propriamente dito. Havia uma comissão técnica que convocava, treinava e escalava o time, enquanto a pessoa habitualmente referida como "técnico" era apenas o representante do time dentro de campo, perante o juiz, como fazem atualmente os capitães. (Until 1922 Brazil had not a proper coach. There was a ground comittee which was responsible for convocations, trainings and definitions of the line-up of the team. On the other hand, the man commonly referred as "coach" was only responsible for represent the team face the referee, like the captains do nowadays).
