This is the former official Campeonato Brasileiro Ranking, formerly provided by Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) and currently updated by Placar magazine.
Other (unofficial) rankings can be done using other criteria:

This ranking is no more than the all-time table of the Campeonato Brasileiro from 1971 to 2006.
From 1971 to 1974, from 1979 to 1987 and from 1989 to 1994, the traditional 2-point-win punctuation was adopted:
WIN - 2 points DRAW - 1 point LOSS - 0 point
In 1975 and 1977, the punctuation criteria adopted was:
WIN BY TWO OR MORE GOAL DIFFERENCE - 3 points WIN BY ONE GOAL DIFFERENCE - 2 points DRAW - 1 point LOSS - 0 point
In 1976 and 1978, the punctuation criteria adopted was:
WIN BY THREE OR MORE GOAL DIFFERENCE - 3 points WIN BY ONE OR TWO GOAL DIFFERENCE - 2 points DRAW - 1 point LOSS - 0 point
In 1988, any tied match after 90 minutes was decided on penalty kicks. The punctuation criteria adopted was:
WIN - 3 points WIN ON PENALTY KICKS AFTER A DRAW - 2 points LOSS ON PENALTY KICKS AFTER A DRAW - 1 point LOSS - 0 point
From 1995 on, the 3-point-win punctuation criteria adopted is:
WIN - 3 points DRAW - 1 point LOSS - 0 point
Tie-breakers: 1. Highest number of wins 2. Best Goal Difference 3. Highest number of goals scored
