Confirming the results of the voting of several press organs and repeating what occurred in 2000, the 28 voters of RSSSF Brazil Player of the Year elected Romário as the best player of Brazil in the year 2001. With three players among the ten best ones, Atlético Paranaense not only confirm its great phase in the 2001 season, but also reiterates the known trend of the voters remember much more the second semester that the first six months of the year (when São Paulo, Corinthians, Flamengo and Grêmio were the teams with more projection). This phenomenon is strongly confirmed by the presence of voting of several players of São Caetano, whose more notable appearance in 2001 was in Campeonato Brasileiro, being runner-up for the second consecutive year. Among the twenty best placed playes, only eight (Juninho Paulista, Kaká, Washington, Luizão, Marques, Kléberson, França, Edílson e Rogério Ceni) has been regularly mentioned in the last calls of Brazil National Team and among the possible listed players to the Asian World Cup. This fact can indicate that brazilian fans are rejecting the work of coach Luís Felipe Scolari, in consequence of the bad results of the Seleção in 2001 (specially in the matches valid by WC Qualifying Tournament). On the other hand, it can also suggest that Brazil is yet one big granary of great players and yet can count with many alternatives to its National Team.
