Brazilian Championship Participations

Notes:

1. From 1980 to 1984 and in 1986, some clubs were promoted from the Second to the First Level
during the championship. These clubs are awarded a participation on the same year's First
Level, but the other (eliminated) clubs of Second Level are not awarded this participation.

2. In 1987, there was the Copa União Green Module (First Level) and Yellow Module (Second
Level). However, Sport and Guarani, who were the finalists in the Yellow Module, had to play
Flamengo/RJ and Internacional/RS, finalists of the Green Module. The Green Module clubs refused
to play, and Sport and Guarani were declared champions and runners-up of the 1987 League after
playing twice each other in the beginning of 1988. Nowadays, most people consider both clubs
(Flamengo and Sport) to be 1987 champions, and some rankings erroneously add the 1987 Yellow
Module participation for all clubs involved - not only Sport and Guarani. Those were the clubs
who played the 1987 Yellow Module and are incorrectly considered by some as having taken part
in the 1987 League: Atlético/GO, Atlético/PR, Bangu, Ceará, Criciúma, CSA, Internacional/SP,
Joinville, Náutico, Portuguesa, Rio Branco/ES, Treze and Vitória/BA.
2. Em 1987, houve o Módulo Verde (Primeira Divisão) e o Módulo Amarelo (Segunda Divisão)
da Copa União. Contudo, Sport e Guarani, finalistas do Módulo Amarelo, tiveram de enfrentar o
Flamengo/RJ e o Internacional/RS, finalistas do Módulo Verde. As equipes do Módulo Verde recusaram

3. In 2000, the creation of the Copa João Havelange led to a similar division to
the 1987's one. Teams counting as having taken part in the 2000 League are all 25 clubs that took
part in the Blue Module (First Level) plus Paraná, São Caetano and Remo (top 3 from Yellow
Module, qualified for the Final Play-offs) and Malutrom (winner of the Green and White Modules,
also qualified for the Final Play-offs).
As equipes

4. In 22/Dec/2010 CBF, awarded to Taça Brasil (1959-1968) and Roberto Gomes Pedrosa (1967-1970)
tournaments the status of Brazilian Championships. These tournaments are listed in italics.
